A little bit about me, I grew up easy in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. I spent my summers catching lighting bugs and going to 4-H camps. Meredith, Will, and their families are part of that memory.
Meredith is a couple years younger than me and was in my tribe at State 4-H camps, held at Jackson’s Mill every year in Weston, WV. She was always just the sweetest kid and apparently liked sitting on the far edge of the Mingo tribe’s edge during counsel circle so she could be next to Will, who was in the neighboring Delaware tribe. This couple goes way back, guys! They met as kids at 4-H camp and have been dating for 8 years. In the meantime, they’ve been earning degrees, moving to Arizona, and generally setting the world on fire. It was so special to see these two sweethearts tie the knot.
Their families were just the nicest people you could hope to be around. Everyone was just so joyous to be celebrating the pair and were totally excited to become one big family. So many of the day’s details were set in place by family and everything was just beautiful. Meredith’s sister , Sarah, handmade the flower girl dresses and affixed beautiful ribbons to the bouquet. I now want everyone to have ribbons on their bouquet! They were just so romantic blowing in the wind.
Meredith and Will said their vows atop a Mountain at Snowshoe Resort in Pocahontas County, West Virginia. It poured that morning, but luckily the winds blew away the rain for the ceremony and portraits.
Once we got back inside Snowshoe’s “Big Top,” the winds and rains picked up and a tornado watch was issued! But the staff at Snowshoe did a great job of keeping everyone safe and informed- so the party continued and everyone had a great time. We even got a chance to sneak outside for 5 minutes between the rains for a few “blue hour” portraits!
I can’t thank Meredith and Will enough for entrusting their wedding day photography with me. I had a wonderful time celebrating and it makes my heart happy to know we preserved the memories of the first day of your long and happy marriage! Congratulations and take care of one another!
P.S. I would be remise if I didn’t thank my second shooter, Leslie Clagg, for her fine work. Shooting with Leslie is always a pleasure and she’s such a pro! Thank you Leslie!
